General Information

Spring Cleanups are a one-time visit designed to clear away the debris left behind by winter and get your property ready for the growing season. After months of snow, wind, and dormant landscaping, lawns and beds often collect sticks, leaves, and other debris that can make the property look messy and slow down healthy spring growth.

During a spring cleanup, our team focuses on removing winter debris from the lawn and landscape beds, blowing and raking out planting areas, and tidying up the property so everything looks refreshed and ready for the season ahead. In many cases, this visit will also include the first mow of the season if the grass is actively growing and lawn conditions allow for mowing.

Spring cleanups help jumpstart the season by improving the appearance of your property and preparing your lawn and landscape areas for regular maintenance.

What’s Included:

  • Lawn mowing (when necessary and conditions allow)
  • Trimming edges as needed
  • Blowing off hard surfaces (driveways, walkways, patios)
  • Leaf management
  • Cleanup of seasonal debris such as snowplow grit, nuts, pinecones, and small sticks

Scope of Service & Deferred Maintenance

This package is priced with the assumption that routine property care has been completed throughout the year — including fall cleanup the previous year, mowing, spring cleanup, and regular upkeep of beds and turf.

  • The Spring Cleanup covers debris in previously maintained areas (lawns, landscaped beds, and established turf/landscape areas).
  • It does not include deferred or neglected maintenance (for example: excessive overgrowth, heavy buildup, or conditions outside the scope of a typical seasonal cleanup).
  • It also does not include clearing or cleaning out new/unmaintained areas such as woods, brush, or naturalized sections of a property. These services are available separately upon request.
  • It does not include weeding beds.
  • It does not include pruning.

If additional work outside of the scope of this job is needed, we will contact you with options. We may skip or limit service for your visit, require additional services to proceed, or cancel the job if the work is not feasible within these terms.

If you would like additional work beyond the scope of the job (such as full bed cleanups, pruning, or other landscape services), please contact our office. We’ll be happy to provide a separate quote and schedule that work outside of the Spring Cleanup.

Flat Rate Pricing

Your flat rate is based on your property size and historical averages from years of past hourly-rate cleanup data. Pricing does not vary visit to visit by time spent on-site, as it is not billed hourly. Labor is included in your price. If debris removal is required, it will be billed separately and charged additionally.

Service will be audited year to year, and if any changes to price are needed based on your property’s needs, those adjustments will be communicated to you in advance and will require your approval.

Debris Removal

If requested or required, leaves can be hauled away for an additional fee indicated on your proposal. If you have a preference (haul away, compost pile, blow into woods, etc.), please let us know by using our custom form, which is sent to you upon signup. Any woods we blow debris into must be on or directly connected to your property – we cannot blow leaves across roadways. If we do not receive instructions for what to do with your leaves, our crews will make the best decision possible based on your property, weather conditions, and amount/location of leaves. This may vary from visit to visit.

👉 Important: Please let us know if there are areas where leaves cannot be placed — especially spots that may look like your property but actually belong to a neighbor. If we are not instructed or are incorrectly or ambiguously instructed and leaves are placed in such an area, removal or relocation will be performed at the customer’s expense.

Scheduling

Services begin in mid-March, weather permitting. We try to complete most cleanups before mowing season begins (typically mid-April), and continue scheduling new spring cleanups into May.

Any unworkable days due to weather or other circumstances within the season will result in delays.

We run our routes as efficiently as possible, which means crews are dispatched daily rather than scheduled for fixed appointments. We cannot accommodate requests to perform services while you are present or by/on a certain date. Please ensure your property is accessible and free of obstacles for the entire cleanup season. Notify us of any conflicts with other outdoor work (driveway sealing, roofing, etc.).

  • Dispatch Timing: Routes are assigned the evening before or the morning of your visit.
  • Visit Notifications: You’ll receive a notification (by email or text—method to be confirmed) when your property is dispatched.
  • Schedule Changes: To maintain route efficiency, schedules may need to shift even after a dispatch notice has been sent. Weather can also be unpredictable this time of year. If we cannot complete your service on the indicated date, we’ll reschedule—typically for the next workable day. We often try to send updated notices if a change is expected to be more than one day, but this may not always be possible.

Spring Cleanup Package FAQ

  • How do I communicate my debris removal preferences or other instructions to you?

Once your Spring Cleanup is added to your account, we’ll send you a custom form where you can share your preferences—like where to stage leaves, whether to haul them away, or any other instructions. If you don’t submit preferences, our crews will use their best judgment to keep your property tidy. You’re always welcome to call or email with questions, but please submit any final instructions through the form so we can keep everything organized and fair for everyone during this busy season.

  • I didn’t ask for debris to be removed from my property. Why was it removed?

Sometimes removal is unavoidable. Leaves may not be safe or practical to mulch or stage, or there may not be a suitable location on your property to put them. In these cases, our crews may remove debris as the most reasonable course of action, and it will be billed per package terms.

  • I gave instructions to put the leaves in a specific place on my property. Why was I charged for removal?

Sometimes your requested staging area isn’t feasible for at least a portion of your debris due to slope, safety, or distance. For example, if you asked for leaves to be blown through a back fence into the woods, but there’s a pile of leaves 50 yards away by the street that's right next to our truck, it wouldn’t be reasonable to move them all the way back. In these cases, our crews may need to remove the leaves instead, and the charge reflects the additional disposal required. We always aim to follow your instructions whenever possible!

  • How many yards of leaves do you remove on average?

Debris amounts in our area can vary widely. We commonly see anywhere from 1–10+ cubic yards of leaves and debris during spring cleanups. The total amount is also heavily influenced by whether fall cleanups were performed the previous season.

  • How do you know how many yards of leaves you took from my property?

Our trained crew leaders document the piles we collect and estimate the total volume. The leaves are hauled to a local facility, which charges us based on what we dump and provides a receipt. At the end of the work day, our maintenance manager reviews the documentation and certifies the leaf fees added to each job. While it’s not an exact science—since we often collect leaves from multiple properties per truckload—we aim to be as fair as possible. With years of experience, we’ve got a good handle on making sure every customer is charged accurately
